A Moment of Pure Joy

In this busy and hectic life
Which often made my sigh and cry
All I ever wanted was
To have a moment of pure joy
My crazy and fast paced life
Seemed to be full of worry and strife
Happiness had become a sacred word
Never to be experienced but only heard
Happiness had become a thing of the past
Which I had in abundance when I was a kid
All my moments of joy were shrouded in fear
As I worried that this joy and happiness will not last
To have a moment of eternal peace and bliss
To be in total harmony with the universe
I craved for a moment of pure joy
To be as happy as a small boy
To be happy and joyful, I realized
I must live fully and not merely exist
Not to let fear and worry take their toll
To fill with peace my mind, body and soul
I realized my natural state was to be happy
To experience joy and happiness unbound
Not to be held prisoner by the fears all around
In the waters of misery not to drown
I learnt that a life without joy is inanimate
That it is parched and has no value
Without joy I could not create and achieve
I wanted to be happy and not to grieve
I learnt that being happy and joyful is a choice
Pure joy will always be within my reach
I must grasp it and make it a part of my life
A moment of joy is worth more than thousand years of strife

When was the Last Time?

You did something for the first time
You laughed your heart out
You had a moment of pure joy
You were truly happy
You were content with your life
You told someone how important they are in your life
You were happy and in a good mood for no reason at all
You loved someone truly, fully with all your heart
You gave without expecting anything in return
You lived life to the full
You overcame your fears and accomplished something
You stood up for something you believed in
You spent time with nature
You spent time with yourselves
You heard the voice from within
You did something because you loved it, not because someone forced it
You forgave someone and moved on
You were full of enthusiasm and confidence
You played with a child
You danced in the rain and played in the sand
You believed you could do anything
You believed with all your heart in your dream
You read a good book, listened to a great song
You marvelled at the wonders of the universe
You broke through your limiting beliefs
You did something that others said could not be done
You learned a new skill, a new language
You paused and reflected about your life
You were not afraid to die
You were free of fear,  guilt, regret and sadness
You were happy just to be alive
You were grateful for all the things in your life
You cried tears of joy
You made a difference
When was the last time you did any of all these? Life is too short to spend it doing something else. Go ahead and do, there is no one stopping you except you

Awakening

Awakening, dawn's chorus
Welcoming,
The day new, untouched
Waiting to be filled.
And will we paint a rainbow
With all its promise
Or dull the canvas
Sadly seen?
Each day brings its own colours
To be chosen, mixed,
Pigments of joy,
Happy moments,
Smiles and laughter.
And which will you choose?
For life is choice,
We are all painters
In our own way,
All needing to create
Something of worth,
Of lasting beauty,
Marking our journey,
Footprints in the sand.
The sky today is azure,
The sun warm and golden
A filigree of light and shadow-play
Through the gently swaying trees.
I clean my brushes,
Choose my palette
Of vibrant, living colours,
And begin to fill
Today's blank canvas.

How to Develop Positive Thinking

People often wonder how to be positive in their thoughts and actions, especially when they are unhappy and unsatisfied, or when life is difficult and tough. They even find it hard to be positive when things go well. Most of them don't know how to be positive and what they need to do. Like every other subject, the know-how of how to be positive can be learned and the skill developed. It is all a matter of attitude and thinking, both of which can be changed.
If we keeping thinking the same thoughts, they will eventually tend to manifest in our world. This means that if we desire good results we have to be careful of what we think. We have to stay and think positive.
Begin by becoming aware of your thoughts, and exchanging your negative thoughts with positive ones. Substitute negativity for being positive, thoughts about poverty with thoughts about wealth, ignorance with understanding, disharmony with harmony and lack of freedom with freedom. Start saying, "I can", "I am able" and "it is possible".
It is our mind that creates the kind of life we live. If we think positively we will transform our life accordingly. Everything starts from within, from the most simple action to the greatest achievement. We cannot always have control over our external circumstances, but we can control our inner world of thoughts, where everything starts. We can't always control our outer universe, but we can, with some effort, control our inner universe.
You are unhappy and negative because of how you think, but you can change the way you think. With a little work and effort you can change how you think, and this will you automatically change your attitude, expectations, actions and reactions, which will lead to more motivation, happiness and improved life.

  • Focus on what you want, not on what you do not want.
  • Focus your mind on the good things you already have in your life. If you focus on them, these good things will increase in your life.
  • Do not fill your mind with thoughts of lack. Think and believe that you already have abundance, success, love and happiness.
  • Learn to feel, think and even act, as if you are already living the life you visualize. If you can feel, think and act consistently in this way, you will become happier, and will attract new opportunities into your life.
  • Think about what you want, create a picture of it in your mind, and make it very clear and precise. Hold it there and focus on it in a positive way, until it becomes a reality in your life.
  • Always tell yourself, "I can", "I am able", "I can do it", "I am a positive person".
  • Often, during the day, repeat positive affirmations about what you want. Do so with faith, feelings, intention and focus.
  • Look for the good in every situation. There is always something good, or at least something useful to learn, even in difficult or unpleasant situations.
  • Follow your positive thoughts with positive actions.
  • Always focus your mind on the full half of the cup, not on the empty half.
  • Do your best to reject negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts.
  • Be aware of your company. Choose to be around positive people.
  • Read about other people's success. Read things that inspire you and make you feel good.
  • Focus your mind on how to be positive and you will discover more ways to be so.
We get what we expect to get, therefore, begin right now to expect the very best of everything that this world has to offer - and wish the same for everyone else. There is plenty of everything in the Universe for everyone, and the Universe can create more of the good things for everyone. Don't think lack, think abundance, for you and for everyone.

Anger never lets you win

Every time you lose your cool, you lose control and at times the cost could be quite high. So learn to manage your temper.

As a little kid growing up on a sheep farm near Christchurch, New Zealand, Martin was a bright, hardworking boy, prone to losing his temper and getting angry. He would end up saying harsh words to his friends and family without often realising the impact of his angry outbursts.
Intent on mending his son’s ways, Martin’s dad decided on a plan. He gave his son a sack of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the wooden fence at the back of their farm. The son agreed. The first day, he hammered 35 nails into the fence. As the days passed, the number of nails hammered into the fence gradually decreased. It was quite a task going all the way to the back of the farm and hammering a nail. Young Martin figured it was easier to just control his temper, and not get angry.
And then, one day, he did not lose his cool at all. A day of no nails! Delighted, he told his father about it. And the father said that for every day that Martin did not lose his temper, he should pull out a nail from the fence. Martin did as told, and some months later, all the nails in the fence had been removed. Martin was pleased. And so was his dad.
The father led young Martin to the back of the farm and pointing to the wooden fence he said “You have done well, my son and I am proud of you. But notice the holes left behind by the nails? They will never go away. The fence will never be the same again. It’s like that with our anger too. When we are angry, we say things that leave a scar. And no amount of apologizing thereafter can ever remove those scars. Remember that!”
It’s a lesson Martin has remembered all his life. And it’s a lesson we would all do well to take to heart too. Keep your cool. Don’t lose your temper. And you will see a significant improvement in your relationships. People will like you more, they will respect you a lot more – and you will find that hardly anybody gets angry with you. If you find yourself losing your cool often, maybe you should set yourself a punishment equivalent to hammering nails on the fence. Like Martin, you too might then find yourself controlling your temper a lot better. Good to remember that you can never really win when you get angry. You always lose -your temper, your cool and a whole lot else besides.
Saying ‘Sorry’ is like using one of those erasers on the top of a pencil. It’s easy to use, it feels like you have erased what was written, but the marks remain on the sheet of paper forever. And in this era of instant messaging and on-the-go e-mails, it becomes even more important to watch your words. If you are upset and want to shoot off an angry e-mail or message, hold it! Draft a mail perhaps – but leave it as a draft. Don’t hit the ‘send’ button whilst you are angry. Tell yourself that you will take a look at it the next morning, and only then send it. Chances are, with a cooler head the next morning, you will realise the folly of sending out the angry email. And it does not matter that you are in the right, or that you think your anger is justified. If you lose your cool, remember, you lose. Period.
Next time you are angry and want to say something, take a deep breath. Pause. And maybe say nothing at all.
Starting today, resolve to keep your cool. Watch what you say. And see the difference!

Life Still Has A Meaning

If there is a future there is time for mending-
Time to see your troubles coming to an ending.
Life is never hopeless however great your sorrow-
If you're looking forward to a new tomorrow.

If there is time for wishing then there is time for hoping-
When through doubt and darkness you are blindly groping.
Though the heart be heavy and hurt you may be feeling-
If there is time for praying there is time for healing.

So if through your window there is a new day breaking-
Thank God for the promise, though mind and soul be aching,
If with harvest over there is grain enough for gleaning-
There is a new tomorrow and life still has meaning.

Cheers..........
